The Challenge

They approached us to replace Excel spreadsheets for managing their editorial plan. Spreadsheets, in fact, were not designed for the collaboration and rapid information sharing that innovation-driven companies need. PED is software that allows you to be in control of the entire editorial process.

Our Solution

The PED is a powerful planning tool that helps to keep the editorial project codified according to three subgroups:

- Project: is a container for a series of products. It can represent, for example, a complete course such as a Latin course for the first two years of high school.

-Product: within each project we have the individual products that make it up, e.g.: books for certain classes, books + digital extensions, catalogues for propaganda

-Component: at this level we define all the individual pieces that make up a parent product, e.g.: a paper text, a digital content, a vocabulary, a scratch code.

Recently revamped in its look, the PED also features a simple and intuitive navigation interface. The architecture relies on a relational database to store all data, a 3-tier system with the application accessible via the web. A collaborative tool that allows for a single database, higher levels of security and uniformity of the various editorial plans through the management of the master data of a three-year editorial plan and an annual PED the management of a process and approval workflow with notifications (email and/or other) respecting the roles and permissions enabled by user type the segmentation of data by product type and by field type (some users will only be able to edit certain data and only of products with certain characteristics - e.g. brand) tracking of changes made data extraction to highlight variations between 2 different periods compared alignment of product master data thanks to the interface with the ERP system publication of approved projects and archiving in a special section so that they can be consulted by everyone
