Process vision, planning and control in order to optimize resources

OCX Data Insight, Software Development

Company description

It is a company active in the Food & Beverage sector. Over the years it has diversified its investments, and today is active in the sports and media sector.

The Challenge

The customer wanted a software solution to manage image processing alongside any existing editorial system and to manage and monitor all the activities related to image processing, which normally takes place using Photoshop, by the graphic designer.

Our Solution

The Peppers software integrates automatic color management software such as Binuscan and Claro. Once the link between the document created with InDesign and Peppers has been defined, it is possible to assign processing to the images and follow the process through to its conclusion. The web application makes it possible to follow the processing activities and manage the steps even in the presence of "remote" processing, i.e. carried out outside the editorial infrastructure: this allows one or more people, even geographically distributed, to operate on the images without the need for InDesign. All activities are tracked and at any time via the web application it is possible to follow the evolution of the processes, the workload and, if necessary, reschedule them to meet the deadlines. The InDesign component makes it possible to define processes, describe them (if necessary) and finally resume and check the processes performed to close the job or start a new one.

Achievements

The project provided a powerful workflow solution for photo editing and retouching environments. Peppers enabled designers and photo editors to communicate easily without leaving the layout/retouching tool, allowing designers to continue working on a layout. The Peppers platform allowed images to be sent, edited and sent back at any time to and from any location with a complete activity tracking system, optimizing the use of resources. The Peppers module integrates with standard automatic pagination and color retouching. In addition, this module obtains the document structure information of the publishing system by integrating directly with Vjoon K4® or Woodwing Enterprise®.
