Easily managing digital catalogues with a PIM integrated with other solutions

Application management & System integration

Company description

A multinational group specialising in commercial refrigeration for the large-scale retail trade. It has established itself on the world stage thanks to a solid industrial culture, great competitive strength and a significant presence both geographically and in numerous business areas. The Group offers the widest and most articulated range of commercial refrigeration solutions, ensuring the supply, installation and maintenance of systems, both directly and through an extensive network of distributors worldwide.

The challenge

With a view to reviewing the company's image and the way in which it promotes its products, the client expressed the need to create a new corporate website, which would encapsulate the brand identity and information of the entire group. It therefore commissioned TK Soluzioni to implement the websites and apps of the various brands, with the requirement to be independent in updating the content for the institutional part of the sites and in modifying and creating new products for the catalogue.

The solution

The institutional part of the websites was realised with the Drupal CMS, while for the web catalogues and apps, TK Soluzioni proposed the use of a PIM, which is the centralised repository for all data and multimedia resources.

In addition to the PIM, the following components were implemented

- data import engine via dedicated connectors from other systems;

- data export engine in SQLite/mySQL format;

- mobile controller: an engine that receives catalogue data for export and updates the database, which is then sent to mobile devices.

In addition, an integration between the PIM and the Hummingbird DAM, already used by the client, was realised in order to link documents relating to technical and commercial product information (price lists, installation manuals, sales guides, etc.) to the PIM system.

TK Soluzioni also realised the integration between the PIM's authentication module and the customer's LDAP service in Active Directory for managing the authentication of all internal company users and sales and service network agents. The service is integrated for access from both websites and mobile apps.

Results

The use of a PIM as a single, reliable source of information has enabled tighter control, proper management and correct dissemination of product data across the various channels, which in this way provide real-time updates without inaccuracies.

The integration of the PIM with the DAM optimised the process of publishing catalogues on the website and apps of the client's various brands.
