Electronic catalogs: lower costs, greater efficiency

Leading Italian company in the marketing and direct sale of fastening systems, consumables and tools for professionals operating in the automotive and craft sectors. It boasts a prominent position on the Italian market thanks to its high quality, wide range of products and excellent service. The brand is distributed throughout the country and can boast a customer base of more than 30,000 users in the automotive, industrial vehicle, wood and construction sectors.

A CHALLENGE TO BE FACED

To replace the production of paper catalogs based on a layout process using Adobe InDesign, with electronic catalogs to be made available to the sales force on tablets. The company therefore sought a software solution capable of:

1. Manage product data (technical characteristics, media, cataloging, commercial characteristics)

2. Manage multilingual translations

3. Publish catalogs on tablets (with Android operating system)

4. Manage the process of sending orders to the SAP management system

5. Replace the existing proprietary page layout system in Adobe InDesign with a more efficient and flexible system for producing PDFs geared towards digital distribution

OUR SOLUTION

TK Soluzioni proposed Espresso, a web-based solution dedicated to PIM product information management and OCX multi-channel publishing. Espresso is available via a web interface and is a multi-platform application.

Specifically, various Espresso modules were used:

1. the PIM (Product Information Management) module for managing product information

2. the module for the automatic publication of catalogs on tablets

3. the automatic pagination module for catalogs and promotions

Several integrations and verticalisations were also realized:

1. integration of products and price lists from corporate erp SAP

2. integration and verticalization with browsable mobile APP (Flip+)


3. implementation of a module for the management and layout of sales promotions

ACHIEVEMENTS

1. elimination of printing costs, reduction of internal production costs and control of layouts with the implementation of automatic pagination


2. immediate availability in electronic catalogs of new products on WEB and Mobile APP (OCX)


3. greater flexibility and the possibility of adding new functions by exploiting the potential of electronic devices: zoom of images, photogallery.


All this has made consultation of the electronic catalogs by the end user much more effective and efficient, creating greater trust in the company and enticing them more to purchase.
