Interactive catalogs: web solution, touchscreen totems and mobile app

Company description

Company specialising in the design and sale of hardware, tools, home improvement, plumbing and gardening products. Recognised nationwide as a leader in the large-scale distribution sector and especially in the DIY sector. It has over 125,000 products in its range including metal and plastic small parts, hand, electrical and pneumatic tools, chemicals, safety clothing and equipment, storage systems and workshop fittings.

The Challenge

The customer expressed the need to find a solution for the rationalisation of the product information management process that would allow publication on as many channels as possible in a fast, secure and efficient manner. This solution had to include integration with existing business systems, such as management and CRM, and with the e-commerce channel.

Our Solution

To meet the needs expressed by the customer, TK Soluzioni proposed Espresso Starter, a solution integrated with Adobe InDesign and dedicated to companies that publish price lists and/or catalogues in both paper and digital format. Espresso Starter is available via a web interface and is a multi-platform application (Windows, Linux and Mac OSX).

A solution has been provided that is capable of :

1. PIM (Product Information Management) module for managing product information

2. automatic catalogue publication module on Android and iOS tablets

3. automatic catalogue layout module

4. TOTEM publication module for points of sale

5. publication module to Magento e-commerce

In addition, a mobile app for iOS and Android tablets was developed for the sales network. The files generated by the company's management system are processed daily by our ETL process, which updates the products, customers and price lists in Express. TK has developed a web-based application intended to be installed in TOTEM touchscreen stations at retail customers. The TOTEM application is fed with product data directly from Espresso's PIM. The TOTEM application offers virtual navigation through the different 3D environments of a house and its garden. The customer also decided to realise two stores dedicated to B2B and B2C sales. TK Soluzioni proposed the realisation of the two shops using Magento technology and exploiting the direct integration module with Espresso. Mobile apps for tabletiOS and Android were realised for the sales network.

Achievements

Significant simplification of the product information management process, rapid access from multiple channels to purchase proposals. The apps also allow the salesperson, when at the customer's premises, to directly build product carts that are automatically sent to the head office to be managed as order requests. The work done has enabled simple functional automation solutions, making purchase proposals more effective.
